With the return of high temperatures, this was a good day to escape the city. Temperatures in the Uwharrie National Forest were somewhat more tolerable. The Uwharrie River was very low and absolutely slack, thanks to the ongoing drought, so the fishing was sub-optimal. I caught only one puny (~5 inches) smallmouth bass, but a whole bunch of scrappy little bluegills to keep me busy. Between some time on the water and the leisurely , scenic country drive, I arrived home mentally and physically refreshed.
